Join your favorite Bay Area orchestra and chorus as they present Felix Mendelssohn’s oratorio Elijah
in a unique performance venue as we continue the tradition of bringing music into the community!
Influenced by Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion and oratorios by Handel, this work is based on the biblical story of the profit Elijah, and has been sung in English since its premiere, making it one of the more accessible choral works in the classical repertoire. Rarely presented due to its large scale, the GGSOC offers a unique opportunity for Bay Area audiences to hear Elijah performed with full chorus and orchestra (plus enjoy burgers and a beer).
