BEYOND BORDER WALLS 2025: Voices from Near & Far
Tickets: www.cityboxoffice.com/ggsoc
Hear music transcend boundaries as Filipino voices blend with the much-loved Misa Criolla from Argentina, and a WORLD PREMIERE from Bay Area composer Benjamin Gribble, titled Last Light - Symphony No. 1.
The Golden Gate Symphony Orchestra & Chorus’ musical journey spans continents, featuring works by one of SF’s favorite composers, John Calloway, alongside Lucio San Pedro's Filipino masterpiece Lahing Kayumanggi featuring the Bay Area’s very own Kulintang Dialect.
Kulintang Dialect—led by Conrad Benedicto honors the legacy of traditional Filipino gong music, and they perform alongside the full Golden Gate Symphony Orchestra & Chorus with soloists Gabrielle Goozee-Nichols (soprano) Celeste Camarena (mezzo-soprano), and Timothy Echavez Salaver (baritone) and under the direction of Maestro Urs Leonhardt Steiner.
This marks the fourth installment in GGSOC's Beyond the Border Wall concert series, a meaningful tradition designed to remind audiences that music unites us across all barriers. Each concert in this series celebrates the universal language of music that flows freely between cultures, creating bridges where walls might divide.
Two Performances:
Saturday, Nov 8 - 2:00 PM - Benicia Clock Tower, Benicia, CA
Sunday, Nov 9 - 5:00 PM - 1st Unitarian Universalist Church, SF
